International Prestigio Cartoon Contest Gets 300 Entries from 35 Countries, Winners Announced

Prestigio Technologies Ltd., a dynamic international vendor of state-of-the-art products for Digital Home and Digital Office, has announced the results of its 3rd International Cartoon Contest “Take the Funny Way”. The jury and the public have selected 4 winners out of around 300 entries submitted by contestants from 35 countries worldwide.

On the 1st of April – the International Day of Humour – the Contest organizers announced the decision of the Prestigio Jury and the results of the Contest website visitors’ poll. This year’s Cartoon Contest was dedicated to the artistic vision of funny moments associated with traveling and navigation in the modern-day hi-tech environment. The Contest was open to amateur and professional cartoonists from all backgrounds, ages and levels of experience. The cartoons considered for this contest had to contain at least one visual element of the Prestigio brand.

The special Users’ Choice Award winner was selected as a result of the Contest website poll. The strongest fan support has been rallied by Olga Kuznetsova from Ukraine who received 35 voices in favour of her cartoon titled “Cars”: http://art.prestigio.com/gallery/view/1204013317. Olga will receive Prestigio’s ultra-sensitive, accurate and long-running GPS Bluetooth receiver and a cash award of USD100.

Prestigio Grand Prix winnerThe remaining three winners were selected by the Prestigio Jury consisting of 20 company employees from corporate divisions based in Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and the Netherlands. The Prestigio Jury included professional designers and artists.

As a result of the Jury vote count, the top Grand Prix was unanimously awarded to Igor Kondenko from Ukraine for his highly creative artwork named "Labyrinth". The artist had given a very funny spin to the ancient Greek myth about the monstrous bull named Minotaur: http://art.prestigio.com/gallery/view/1205849936 . Probably, the famous Greek hero Theseus would have no chances of survival if Minotaur could really use contemporary GPS tracking technology. The Grand Prix winner will receive the top cash award of USD1,000.

The Golden Prize was awarded to Pol Leurs from Luxembourg for his "Approach to Traffic Lights" cartoon: http://art.prestigio.com/gallery/view/1206441980 . Pol will get Prestigio’s flagship Prestigio GeoVision 430 navigator plus a cash award of USD400.

The Silver prize was given to Istvan Kelemen (Hungary) for his "Personal Navigation" entry: http://art.prestigio.com/gallery/view/1206462505 . Istvan is entitled to receiving Prestigio GeoVision 350 GPS navigator and USD200.

The 3rd International Prestigio Cartoon Contest is over, but Prestigio is already preparing its traditional international contest of artistic photography which is due to be announced at the end of April 2008. This year's Cartoon Contest reaffirmed vast popularity and recognition of the Prestigio brand, as well as the existence of online community which is united by its passion for art and hi-tech. The next cartoon contest is slated for December 2008.

The best cartoons from Prestigio contests will be displayed at an international cartoon exhibition to be held in the House of Humour and Satire in the Bulgarian town of Gabrovo in March 2009.

Prestigio has made it a tradition since 2004 to hold several artistic contests each year aimed at promoting the Prestigio brand and identifying and encouraging gifted artists and designers from around the world.
